A Message from the CEO

Let me share with you why I started Faith by the Sea. You see, I know firsthand what it’s like to have someone you love suffer from the disease of substance abuse. After twenty years of marriage, my husband seemed to get worse with each passing year. As I continue to discover through my work, substance abuse impacts not only the abuser, but their entire family. My family was no different. We were impacted emotionally, financially, and socially. Everything changed when I hit bottom. I had been waiting for him to hit bottom, but that never happened. Instead, I was the one who one day realized I could not live like this anymore. Something had to change. I found a rehab center for him and packed his bags. Before I sent him off I asked him if he was ready to let God into our lives to help. We both surrendered to God and together read the sinner’s prayer.

Just a few days after he left, God put it on my heart to start Faith by the Sea. I’m grateful to God for giving me the talent to develop and manage businesses. He’s helped me successfully open eight different businesses. Now I know that Faith by the Sea is the one God had in mind when he gave me the blessing of running businesses. And this is the one that is so true to my heart because I know what it feels like to be powerless over this disease. My husband had been in other rehabs that never helped him with his underlying issues. Those rehabs tried to help him to stop drinking, but never dealt with the reasons why he was drinking. And our family was left out of the process. I never received a phone call or an email asking how our family was dealing with this.

At Faith by the Sea we understand substance abuse is a family disease. We have designed a program called F.I.S.H. (family in spiritual healing) to help the family as a whole not just the addict. We also spend time counseling the addict on the past as well as the present, so we discover and deal with the reason the addict is self medicating.
